Pops McGee is 61 years old. He has strong opinions about golf. He reads his golf magazine on the porch. And he can fall asleep in any chair within four minutes — a skill he has never once failed to deploy.
But here's the thing about Pops: he knows things. Really important things. The kind of things that adults forget to say out loud because they've known them for so long it doesn't seem worth mentioning. Pops says them — in the fewest possible words — and then immediately returns to sleeping.
He never over-explains. He never lectures. He gives Jack exactly what he needs, nothing more, then naps through the follow-up questions. Which, honestly, might be the most effective teaching method in the entire series.
